Dash coin (DASH) former known as Dark coin or XCoin relies on a two-level architecture of its distributed network the upper level of which consists of supernodes that prove the transactions, mix them and form the blockchain. After that those transactions, approved by masternodes undergo the scrutiny performed by ordinary nodes via PoW mining. The last employs eleven rounds of different hashing functions to compute the final hash for each block. Such algorithm of hashing is called X11.

Unlike Bitcoin's blockchain where all transactions are transparent, the mixing executed by Masternodes via innovative Darksend protocol allows senders and receivers to remain anonymous as all transactions history and balances are publicly not available.
